Sílvia Gomes

Silvia Gomes is currently a lecturer in Criminology at Nottingham Trent University (UK) and a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences (Portugal). She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, with a thesis focusing on crime, ethnicities, and social inequalities. She 
is co-coordinating the Thematic Section on Sociology of Law and Justice of the Portuguese Sociological Association and is a member of the European Society of Criminology and the British Society of Criminology. Author of several publications, her main areas of research are focused on crime and media, prison studies, crime, ethnicity and gender, intersectional approaches, social inequalities and violence, life-course criminology, prison re-entry, recidivism, and criminal desistance.
